A Message from the Founder Chairman

It was on 13 January 2015 that the Dar es Salaam Chapter of ICAI (Tanzania) was officially inaugurated with a vision to create a strong, collaborative, and professionally enriching platform for Indian Chartered Accountants and finance professionals in Tanzania.

What began as a modest gathering of like-minded professionals has, over the years, evolved into a vibrant and respected professional institution — fostering knowledge sharing, continuous learning, industry engagement, and meaningful connections within the accounting and business community.

Over the past eleven years, the Chapter has achieved several significant milestones, including:

Key historical milestones

Building a strong professional network of over 100 active members from industry and practice.
Successfully organizing annual conferences and professional development programmes.
Conducting technical sessions covering core areas such as taxation, audit, accounting standards, and emerging domains including Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and digital transformation.
Establishing a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA), while supporting its initiatives towards strengthening the accounting profession in Tanzania through continued collaboration and guidance from ICAI leadership.
Collaborating with ICAI and various industry bodies to bring global knowledge, technical expertise, and professional opportunities closer to our members.
Developing a strong and consistent relationship with the High Commission of India in Dar es Salaam.
Establishing strategic collaborations through Memorandums of Understanding with the Tanzania India Business Forum and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
Representing our members and the Tanzania Chapter at the Global Exhibition of Services in India.

I am proud that the dedication and commitment of the Chapter have been recognized by ICAI over the years, resulting in the Dar es Salaam Chapter receiving the prestigious Best Overseas Chapter Award on multiple occasions since its establishment.

This journey has been made possible through the collective contribution of our members, speakers, volunteers, students, and supporters who have generously shared their time, expertise, and commitment. The vision, dedication, and leadership of past and present Managing Committee members have played a pivotal role in building the strong foundation upon which the Chapter stands today.

As we enter our twelfth year, our commitment remains unwavering — to uphold the values and professional standards of ICAI, promote lifelong learning, encourage innovation, and create meaningful opportunities for professional and personal growth.

I invite all members to actively participate in the Chapter's upcoming initiatives and contribute towards shaping its future. Your ideas, involvement, and continued support will remain essential in taking the Chapter to greater heights.

On this occasion, I would also like to place on record my sincere appreciation for the efforts of my fellow Founder Members, whose vision and commitment helped establish a platform built on strong foundations and shared values.
